Ruth Mary Douglas

HOPATCONG - Ruth Mary Douglas passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus. She was 81.

Born in Livingston on Sept. 4, 1931, to the late Thomas and Helen Elsum, Ruth resided in Caldwell where she graduated from Caldwell High School prior to moving to Lake Hiawatha, Mt. Arlington and Bonita Springs, Fla., before residing in Hopatcong for the last nine years. Ruth was a homemaker whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Devoted wife of the late Stephen Jr.; beloved mother of Stephen III and wife, Lucy, John and wife, Corinna, Jed and wife, Nancy, David and wife, Veronica and Scott and wife, Moira; dear sister of Dorothy Reiman, the late Virginia Cherkin and the late Jane Elsum; adoring grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 11.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Ruth's Life Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Landing. A prayer service will be offered at noon at the funeral home. Ruth will be laid to rest at Bevans Cemetery in Sandyston Township, immediately following the prayer service on Saturday.
