NEWTON - Alice Ernestine Dyksen, 92, of Branchville, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton. Born in Garfield, Mrs. Dyksen lived in the Clifton and Paterson area for several years before moving to the Culver's Lake Section of Branchville in 1962. Mrs. Dyksen was a homemaker, she enjoyed needle work, knitting and cross stitching. The daughter of the late John and Lea (Traineau) Bonnema, Mrs. Dyksen also was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Dyksen, in (1996); a grandson, Joseph Manning III, (1979). She is survived by her daughter, Alice D. Swackhamer and husband, Bert, of Long Valley; a son, John A. Dyksen and wife, Laurie, of Branchville; a daughter, Janet Manning, and husband, Joseph, of Branchville; four grandchildren, Kathleen Hurst, John A. Dyksen Jr., Cheryl Tracey and Carrie Ann Swackhamer; and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, May 11, in the Newton Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, Lawnwood Avenue, Newton.
