HAMPTON - Anthony F. Lucia Jr., 93, of Hampton Township, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at home.

Born in Union City, Mr. Lucia lived in North Bergen, then lived in Forked River for 36 years before moving to Hampton Township. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from Aug. 10, 1944, to April 3, 1945. A clerk for the United States Post Office in North Bergen, Mr. Lucia retired 38 years ago. He was the founder of the Postal Union and the Postal Credit Union. Mr. Lucia was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The son of the late Anthony F. Lucia Sr. and Concetta (Juliano) Lucia, Mr. Lucia also was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Maggiora and Josephine Paoleschi, and two brothers, George and Michael Lucia. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Johanna (Miller) Lucia; two daughters, Linda Ann Trulio and husband, Joseph, of Hampton Township, and Donna Watson and husband, Chet, of Whiting; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Lucia, of Demarest.

Funeral services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, 209 Route 206, Branchville. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown. Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
