NEWTON -- Bernadine B. Wallace, 78, of Newton, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at home. Born in Dickson City, Pa., Mrs. Wallace grew up in Olyphant, Pa., then lived in East Orange before moving to Newton in 1958. She was a 1952 graduate of Olyphant High School and worked as a caregiver for many years. A member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, Mrs. Wallace was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. The daughter of the late Frank and Helen (nee Krisler) Volpe, Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband, Leonard A. â€œDocâ€ Wallace, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1955; one daughter, JoAnn M. Suender and Javier Marrero of Sandyston Township; one son, Leonard A. Wallace, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Stroudsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Heather and Kirsten Wallace and Samantha Marrero, caregiver; and one sister, Mary Ann Cunion of Jessup, Pa. Funeral services will begin at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph R.C.
