NEWTON -- Calvin A. Hendershot, 74, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Barn Hill Care Center. Born in Honesdale, Pa., to the late Peter and Anna Hendershot, Calvin had lived in Sussex County for most of his life. He had been employed as a welder for Sussex Tank in Lafayette for 37 years, and after he retired from there he worked full-time for Kuperus Farmside Gardens in Sussex for seven years. Many people probably knew him from his hobby: being a junk man. Calvin also enjoyed cooking and watching various cooking shows. He was predeceased by his grandson, Peter C. Hendershot Jr. in 2012. Calvin is survived by his wife, Eva, of Newton; his two sons, Peter C. Hendershot Sr. and Gerald Hendershot, both of Newton; his daughter, Judith Ann Hendershot, of Newton; his sister, Betty Crowell, of West Virginia; six grandchildren, Shane, Michael, Ethan, Aaron, Edward Gould Jr. and Elizabeth Gould; his nieces and nephews, Steven Babcock, Kevin Babcock, Betty Babcock, Jazmin Houghtaling, Nathan Houghtaling, LeeAnn Lozaw, Robert Guest, Wendy Babcock, Carol Lee Katch, and Sherrie Lozaw. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex.
