Charles Karl Obituary

BUDD LAKE - Charles F. Karl, of Budd Lake, formerly of Hopatcong, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Troy Hills Center in Parsippany-Troy Hills. He was 78. Born in Morristown, he lived in Hopatcong from 1956 to 2012 prior to moving to Budd Lake. He was an electronics repair person with Western Electric in Union and Samsung Electronics in Ledgewood prior to his retirement.

Charles was a life member of the Hopatcong Fire Department serving in Hopatcong Fire Company No. 2 and then No. 3 for a total of 44 years. He also served his community for 15 years as a member of the Hopatcong Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Viola R. (Rurade) Karl; devoted father of Ronald C. Karl and his wife, Lisa, Janet E. Gilmore and her husband, Chris, Diane M. Karl and the late Mary Anne Butler, who passed away in May of this year; loving grandfather of Dane J. Karl, Lindsay and Chelsea Butler, Amanda, Courtney, Christopher and Thomas Gilmore and Brittany and Travis Sisco.

A memorial life celebration will be held for Charles on Friday, Nov. 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Christian Liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at St. Jude's R.C. Church in Hopatcong followed by Fireman's "Last Call"� at Hopatcong Fire Co. No. 3.
