HAMBURG - Christakis Mikellides, 65, of Hamburg, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Feb. 20, 2014.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. Funeral ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Montclair. Born in Cyprus in 1948 to Eleni and Aristides Mikellides, Chris' family immigrated to Holborn, England, in 1960. He was a chief inspector with the Metropolitan Police, London, England. Chris was a light-welterweight boxer for the Metropolitan Police, winning many titles, amongst them the prestigious LaFone Cup. Later in life, he met his wife, Angela, and moved to America to be with her. They lived first in Wayne and then in Hamburg, where he was the president of the Indian Field at Hardyston Homeowner's Association for the past five years. Among his many interests were gardening and a good round of golf. He was proud to be a member of the Miss-Hits Golf League at Great Gorge.

He is survived by his wife, Angela (Soteriou); his mother, Eleni; his children, Karen Wyatt and her husband, Darren, Steve Mikellides, and Angela Gurrieri and her husband, Jon; his grandchildren, Ellie Wyatt and Tate Gurrieri; and his siblings, Androulla Ioannou, Stavros Mikellides and Photoulla Mikellides. Chris was predeceased by his father, Aristides, and his brothers, Demitrios and Constantinos Mikellides.
