FRANKLIN - Clarence Edward Babcock Sr., 93, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Andover Sub-Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Andover Township. Born in Vernon, he was the son of the late George and Eva (Green) Babcock. Mr. Babcock had been a lifelong resident of Sussex County and a resident of Franklin Borough for 68 years.

For 20 years Clarence was employed by Franklin Borough working in the Department of Public works division, retiring from that position in 1986. He also had worked in building construction for many years with the Arthur D. Crane Company in the Lake Mohawk section of Sparta. During his younger years he enjoyed the time he would spend outdoors hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jennie Babcock; a daughter, Patricia Babcock; and sons, Ernest Babcock and Leroy Babcock. Along with sisters, Ada Space, Emma Lazier and Helen Bailey; brothers, Robert Babcock, Lewis Babcock and Elmer Babcock. He is survived by his daughters, Betty Henderson and her husband, Roy, of Franklin, Evelyn Talmadge and her husband, Charles, of Franklin, June Rider and her companion, Butch, of Branchville; sons, Clarence Babcock Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin, Lester Babcock and his wife, Shirley, of Hampton, and Earl Babcock and his wife, Sherral, of Wantage. Along with 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4. Memorial donations in his memory would be preferred and may be made to Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad, P.O.
