HAMPTON - Corey Robert Stewart, 22, of Hampton Township, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in a rock climbing accident in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Born in Newton, Corey was a longtime Hampton Township resident. He was a 2009 graduate of Kittatinny Regional High School where he was active in Mock Trial, a member of the Environmental Club and Chamber Choir. He was an avid outdoorsman and a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. He was currently a student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. A line cook at Gravity 1020 in Fort Collins, Corey had previously worked for Krave and Andre's restaurants, both in Newton. Corey was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Stewart, and his maternal grandmother, Joan Hull. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Meg Waldron and her husband, Jeff, of Hampton Township; his father, Russell Stewart, of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Kaitlin and Heather Stewart, of Hampton Township; his stepbrother, Alan Waldron, of Lafayette; his maternal grandfather, William Hull, of Morehead City, N.C.; and grandparents, Fannie and Edmund Waldron, of Newton; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the First Presbyterian Church, 54 High St., Newton.
