CLAYTON, Del. - David A. Copelton, 71, of Clayton, Del., died July 7, at Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover, Del.
Born in Paterson to the late John Edward and Mildred P. (Thomas) Copelton, David grew up in Byram and moved to Andover Township in 1972; he lived in Clayton, Del., for the last three years. David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and worked as a Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Real Estate, in Sparta, for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2014.
David was past president of the Sussex County Board of Realtors, a member and elder of the Andover Presbyterian Church in Andover Borough and a member of Clayton Presbyterian Church in Clayton, Del. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2347 in Netcong and a member of the American Legion Post 278 in Stanhope.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Antoinette (LaRusso) Copelton, of Clayton, Del.; his daughters, Audrey Copelton-Dill and husband, Frank, of Westfield, and Denise Copelton and husband, Brian Fletcher, of Geneseo, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Dill, of Westfield, and Mathilda and Margaret Fletcher,, of Geneseo, N.Y.; and his siblings, John E. Copelton and wife, Beverly, of Egg Harbor, Joyce Swistak and husband, Gary, of Roebuck, S.C., Paul Copelton and wife, Becky, of Moore, S.C., and Thomas Copelton and wife, Judy, of Long Pond, Pa.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 12, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 13, at the Andover Presbyterian Church, 1 Lenape Rosd, Andover Borough, followed by interment in Andover Cemetery.
