VERNON - Derek P. Semanek, 31, died after a long illness at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack, on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. Born to Alan and Lois Semanek in Livingston, he had lived in Vernon Township most of his life. Derek worked as an electrician for J.M. Electric in Elizabeth for eight years. He was an active player with the Skylands and Mennen Adult Ice Hockey Leagues, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working out. Derek is the devoted son of Alan and Lois Semanek, of Highland Lakes. Dear brother of Jason Semanek, of Great Meadows, and twin brother of Lauren Lowell, of Vernon. Loving uncle of Eva Lowell. Also survived by Aunts Joanie and Cookie, Uncles George, Pete and Hughie and the Colianni Family. The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94,(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.
