ROXBURY TWP. -- Mr. Francis C. Ernst, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at St. Clareâ€™s Hospital in Denville surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Utica, N.Y., Mr. Ernst lived in Whitesboro, N.Y., before moving to Succasunna 49 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired government contractor at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Township for many years. He was a member of St. Therese R.C. Church in Succasunna and a former member of St. Paulâ€™s R.C. Church in Whitesboro, N.Y. Mr. Ernst was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Lange) in 1993. He is survived by his two sons, Douglas F. (and Cindy) Ernst, of Stillwater, and Dr. David J. (and Nancy) Ernst, of East Windsor; brother, George Ernst, of Ewing; nine grandchildren, Kelly Kays, Stacey, Kevin, Lauren, Victoria, Rebecca, Ramona, Olivia and David; and his great-granddaughter, Margaret Rose Kays. Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna, Saturday, Feb. 22, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday at St. Paulâ€™s R.C.
