LAFAYETTE - Francis "Frank" D. Hunter, 57, of Lafayette, died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Friday evening, Oct. 4, 2013. Born in Levittown, Long Island, N.Y., he had lived in Blairstown and the Lake Owassa section of Frankford Township for many years before moving to Lafayette in 2001.

Son of the late Edward William and Elizabeth (Downey) Hunter, Frank was a graduate of Levittown High School, class of 1972. He attended Paul Smith College in Saranac Lake, N.Y., and later graduated from West Virginia University in 1976, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in forestry. A photogrammetrist by profession, he was the owner and president of Atlantis Aerial Survey Co. Inc. in Budd Lake.

An active and devout member of the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church in Fredon, Frank had served as a church elder and was a member of a Saturday morning men's Bible study group in Franklin. Mr. Hunter was a proud and avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and enjoyed riding his Electra Glide Classic. A member and former vice president of the Christian Motorcycle Association, Newton Chapter, he also was a member of the Rolling Iron Riding Club in Flanders. A skilled craftsman and woodworker, Frank also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 12 years, Joan M. Hunter (Ward); his son, Ryan E. Hunter, of Lafayette; his daughter, Kelly H. and her husband, John Mauger, of Rockaway Township; and his daughter, Tracy E. Hunter, of Wantage. Also surviving are his brother, John and his wife, Allison Hunter, of Pulaski, Va.; his sister, Carol and her husband, Wayne Driskill, of Rustburg, Va.; his sister, Evelyn and her husband, Hugh Honeycutt, of Denton, N.C.; and his many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church, 1 Yellow Frame Road (Route 94), Fredon. Interment will immediately follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Airport Road, Andover. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.
