BANNING, Calif. - Gale Farrell-Suydam, 73, a long-time resident of Newton, passed away Oct. 19, 2013, near her home in Banning, Calif., following a traumatic brain injury. Gale lived and worked for many years in Newton, where her children were raised, until she moved to California in 1994. She was a 1958 graduate of Newton High School, and she earned a bachelor's degree from Trenton State College and a master's degree from Rutgers University. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Suydam; her children, Theodore Riddle, of Hackettstown, Karen Carty, of Long Valley, Mark Riddle, of Carmel, N.Y.; her brother, Terence Farrell, of Kinderhook, N.Y.; as well as four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, Calif. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gale's name may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
