George Geary Jr. Obituary
HARDYSTON - George Geary Jr., 92, passed away on Sept. 12. George was born on Aug. 1, 1925, in Wantage, to the late George and Ruth (Hough) Geary Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Hardyston Township.
George served in the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Division in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and owned Twin Knolls Farm, in Hardyston. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the American Legion. George enjoyed his family and their gatherings.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Simmons) Geary, and stepson, Terry Manning, and his siblings, Ruth Howard, Louise Puder and Harry Geary.
George is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Helena M. Geary (Hardy); his daughter, Susan Mayfield and her husband, Mark, of Wever, Iowa; grandchildren, Eric Mayfield and his wife, Bridget, Jennifer Mayfield and Craig Mayfield; great grandchildren, Harper Mayfield and Baylie Mayfield; his stepchildren, Valarie Woortman and her husband, Robert, of Lafayette, and Alan Henderson and his wife, Lorie, of Lafayette; daughter-in-law, Susan Manning; his step-grandchildren, Ashley Woortman Pepe and her husband, Ryan, Vanessa Aikens and her husband, Josh, Andrew Henderson, Stacey Manning and Joanne Carr and her husband, Michael; his step-great-grandchildren, Matthew Carr, Rachael Carr and Cillian Aikens; and his nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 15, at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin, and gather at the funeral home at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 16, for funeral services, with committal services at North Hardyston Cemetery.
