HAMPTON - Gertrude Carol Widgren, 85, of Hampton Township, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., Mrs. Widgren was a graduate of Port Richmond High School. She lived in Newton for more than 20 years then lived in Wallenpaupack, Pa., before moving to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She moved back to New Jersey in 2001 and had been a resident of Hampton Township since that time. An administrative assistant at Newton Service Agency, Mrs. Widgren retired in the late 1970s. She was a member of The Lafayette Seniors and loved cooking and baking. The daughter of the late Ernest B. and Asta (Dahl) Holdorff, Mrs. Widgren also was predeceased by her husband, William C. Widgren, on Feb. 13, 2001, and a son, Erik W. Widgren, on May 3, 1977. She is survived by three children, Christine Widgren, of Hellertown, Pa., William A. Widgren, of Frelinghuysen, and Karen A. Howarth and husband, David B., of Hampton Township; five grandchildren, Gretchen E. Torres and husband, Jesse, of Lafayette, Tyler W. Howarth of Hampton Township, Troy Widgren of Fredericksburg, Va., Christopher Widgren of Andover and Patrick Widgren of Hoboken; and six great-grandchildren, Trent, Erik, Ella, Hayden, Lily and Billy. Services and interment are private and under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
