Gordon Allen Jennings Sr. Obituary
WANTAGE - Gordon Allen Jennings Sr., 77 years old, died after a long illness at Saint Clare's Hospital, in Dover, on Dec. 30. Born to Everett and Helen Jennings in Phillipsburg, he lived in Hainesville before moving to the Beemerville section of Wantage Township 51 years ago.
Gordon owned and operated Beemerville Auto Wrecking Inc. for 51 years. He was an exempt member of the Beemerville Fire Department and a member of the Sussex Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, flea markets, car shows, stock car racing and was an avid Yankees fan!
Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Jennings (2004), and a brother, Donald Jennings (1972), and is survived by daughters, Wendy Jennings and her partner, Mick, of Beemerville, Lisa Casterlin and her husband, Thomas, of Lafayette, Tracy Drew, of Wantage; and sons, Gordon A. Jennings Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Beemerville, and Cory Jennings and his wife, Bridget, of Beemerville. He was the dear companion of Helen Gardner, of Beemerville; loving grandfather of Hailey, Jason, Gabby and Megan Jennings, Amy and Tim Praschil, Joshua, Chad, Molly, Peter and Mikey; great-grandfather of Layla, Reese, Sophia, Briar and Giuliana; and brother-in-law of Edith Nicholas, Nancy DeGroat, Linda DeGroat and Aleane Jennings. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his dogs, Kelsey and Princess.
The family will receive their friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 5, at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Beemerville Cemetery.
