WANTAGE - Harry "Bud" Padgett Jr., 70, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Kindred Hospital at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover. Born in Franklin to the late Harry Padgett Sr. and Mabel (Shauger) Padgett, Bud had lived in the Sussex-Wantage area all of his life. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 35 years for the Sussex County Road Department and had retired at age 65. Bud was a member of the Lone Pine Hunting Club in Montague and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to casinos, watching the Giants, Yankees and Dale Earnhardt. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert "Bob" Padgett, on May 15, 2013. He is survived by his two sons, Harry "Christopher" Padgett and his wife, Debra, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and James "Jamie" Padgett and his significant other, Cathy, of Glen Spey, N.Y.; his two daughters, Cindy Strunk and her husband, Brian, of Westtown, N.Y., and Pamela Grau and her significant other, Donald Clouse, of Sandyston; his brother, who was his diner and casino partner, Richard Padgett, of Franklin; his two sisters, Marie Southard, of Franklin, and Jean Lazier, of Newport News, Va.; his former wife of 25 years, Maude Turse, of Dingmans Ferry; his companion, Evelyn Allen, of Westtown; his former son-in-law, Ed Grau, of Dingmans Ferry; his future son-in-law, Thomas Brunell, of Westtown; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will follow at Clove Cemetery.
