HUGUENOT, N.Y. - Heather Jon Szewczyk-Lyon, 33, of Huguenot, N.Y., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at home.

Born July 30, 1980, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Heather attended HBE Elementary School and Port Jervis High School, and graduated from Purchase University with a BSS. In 2009 she married her high school sweetheart, Steven Lyon.

Heather was a dedicated case worker at Berkshire Farm. She was committed to assisting families and children in need in Orange County. In her spare time Heather had a great love of the outdoors, and enjoyed camping and hiking whenever possible. The city of Port Jervis will miss the little runner that stopped buses. Heather would say continue to FSU to everyone she has left behind.

Heather is survived by her husband, Steven Lyon; her parents, John and Sheila Szewczyk; her siblings and their spouses, Amanda Szewczyk, John and Shasta Szewczyk, and Katherine and Pavel Golobrodskiy; and her nieces and nephews, Brian, Lynneese, Anthony, Johnny and Angela. She also is survived by her in-laws, Edward, Sue and Jason Lyon. She was predeceased by her niece, Elizabeth.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home Inc., 100 East Main St., Port Jervis, N.Y., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome at the Huguenot Fire Company, 431 Route 209, between services and after. Cremation will be held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made in Heather's name to the CJ Foundation for SIDS at HUMC: WFAN Pediatric Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
