VERNON - James Henry Dahl, 73, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Henry and Florence Dahl. Prior to moving to Naples, he had been a resident of Vernon for 35 years. Mr. Dahl was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. For many years he was employed as a supervisor with the New York Transit Authority. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 1/2 years, Joanne (Murphy) Dahl; children, James E. Dahl and his wife, Cheryl, of Vernon, Patricia Rotun and her husband, Jon, of Highland Lakes and John Dahl and his wife, Bonnie, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; beloved grandfather of Alicia, Casey and Eric Dahl, and Lucas Rotun; along with his brother, Edward Dahl, of Honesdale, Pa. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon. For GPS, use address 1 Vanderhoof Court. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 184 Breakneck Road, Highland Lakes. Final disposition will be held privately.
