FRANKFORD - Josephine "Josie Jay" Laterza, 79, of Frankford, died peacefully Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Homestead Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Frankford Township.

Born Aug. 26, 1934, in Bellville, she had lived there many years before becoming a SCARC Group Home resident in Branchville.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Martucci) Laterza, Josephine was a loving, caring woman who enjoyed traveling with her mother and friends at SCARC. She was an active resident who enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting and especially singing. She had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Survivors include her sisters, Carolyn L. Hoffman, of Houston, Texas, and Frances D. and her husband, Edwin VanOrden, of Corpus Christi, Texas; her three nieces; and one nephew; as well as her dear friend Jane Hasenbalg.

The family would like to send their most heartfelt thanks to the SCARC organization for helping to give Josephine a very high quality of life.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Halstead Street, Newton. Burial will immediately follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.
