FREDON - Kenneth J. Scheel, 77, of Fredon, died peacefully at his home Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, following a long illness. Born in Teaneck, he lived in Palisades Park before moving to Sussex County. Son of the late John and Mae (Scott) Scheel. Ken, the "guy with the cigar," owned and operated Heritage Custom Flooring. As a master craftsman, Ken loved his trade and he loved to work. He was a kind, loving and generous soul. Ken genuinely enjoyed his life, always having a smile on his face. He was an amazing husband, father and stepfather, truly a gift from God. He enjoyed traveling, dancing and puttering around the house. Ken, an avid hunter and angler, was a member of the "Goose Gang." He was a man of integrity, accountability and was always true to his word. Survivors include his wife, Susan A. (Stalter); her daughter, Lauren Weaver, and son, Robert Weaver; his sons, Walter and Kenneth Scheel; and his daughters, Kim Kus, Cheri Kriener and Kathi Donofrio. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m., immediately followed by memorial funeral services at 4 p.m. in Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.
