SPARTA - Kenneth R. Roenicke, 68, of Sparta, peacefully passed into eternal life Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his residence. Kenneth was born in Jersey City to the late Charles and Elsie Roenicke. He grew up in West New York, N.J., prior to moving to Sparta in 1975. Kenneth served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he was employed as a technician specialist with Sun Microsystems, formerly Storage Technology Corporation, in Mountainside for 35 years, retiring in 2009. He was a head usher for the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta and a member of the American Legion. Kenneth was predeceased by his daughter, Kim Roenicke, in 2010. He is survived by his spouse of 41 years, Carolee (Owens) Roenicke, of Sparta; son, Andrew and his wife, Shannon, of Hanover, Md.; daughter, Nadine Centineo and her husband, Brad, of Eldersburg, Md.; two grandchildren, Grant and Addilyn Centineo; and a brother, Chuck Roenicke and his wife, Jackie, of Ridgefield. Family and friends are invited Wednesday, June 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., to Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A funeral service will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
