WANTAGE - Laura Gaechter, 90, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at her residence.

Mrs. Gaechter had lived in Rochelle Park before moving to Sussex County 37 years ago. She had owned and operated Rochelle Park Nursery with her husband for 24 years and had retired in 1975.

Mrs. Gaechter was a former member of the Wantage Seniors, a former member of the Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Rochelle Park and had attended St. Monica R.C. Church in Sussex.

Mrs. Gaechter was dedicated to her family and centered her life around everyone else. Her grandchildren kept her young at heart. Mrs. Gaechter was always kind, caring and generous to a fault. She enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone and especially loved Sunday dinners. She was an avid gardener.

She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Gaechter Sr., in 2002, and her sister, Nellie Gut. Mrs. Gaechter is survived by her two sons, John and his wife, Cindi, of Hampton and William and his wife, Wendy, of Wantage; her three daughters, Laura Kozdemba and her husband, Walter, of Ringwood, JoAnn Jahn and her husband, Donald, of Lackawaxen, Pa., and Suzanne Sklar and her husband, Harry, of Long Valley; her brother, John Zaprawa, of Michigan; her sister, Sally Telep, of Clifton; her 12 grandchildren, Cameron, Calissa, Julia, Jake, Eric, Tracey, Jamie, Jill, Andrew, Michael, Lindsay and Jason; and her four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Kendall, Hunter and Harper.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Ave., Sussex. Interment in Deckertown-Union Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
