Obituary Condolences

WEST MILFORD - Lawrence M. O'Connor, 91, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Milford Manor Nursing Home in West Milford.

Born in New York City to the late James and Elizabeth O'Connor, he grew up in Astoria, Queens, N.Y. He served in the Navy during World War II, Pacific Theater on the USS Hale. After the Navy, he worked as an elevator electrician until he was admitted to the NYPD Academy. He served as a patrol officer at the 108th Precinct in Long Island City until he retired in 1978.

Mr. O'Connor was a full-time resident of Lake Neepaulin since 1978 and had been a summer resident since 1963. He was a member of St. Monica R.C. Church of Sussex, the Over Fifty Club of Sussex, Wantage Senior Citizens and Sussex AARP.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth A. O'Connor, in March 2003; and his son, Barry O'Connor, of Astoria, N.Y., in October 2009. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Joseph Cirafici, of Princeton Junction, and his grandson, Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Ave., Sussex. Interment will be in Clove Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home.
