WANTAGE - Lt. Col. Ronald S. Liss, M.D., 81, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Morristown Medical Center.

Dr. Liss was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had resided in Wantage Township since 1972.

Dr. Liss was an orthopedic surgeon and maintained a practice in Vernon for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, having served in both the Vietnam Era and the Gulf War. He was also a very proud farmer.

Dr. Liss is survived by his wife, Lyn Liss; children, Steven Liss, of Frankford, and Sherrie Swafford, of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandson, Brandon; and three sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.
