Obituary Condolences

BYRAM -- Mary F. (nee O’Rourke) Fiedler, 92, of Byram Township, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at home.

Born in Bogota, Mary moved to Byram in 1958. She was a graduate of Air Service Command sponsored by the Andersen Organization of Tennessee and was an aircraft sheet metal mechanic, as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. A member of Good Shepherd R.C. Church in Andover, Mary was a regular communicant and donated to Catholic Charities. She enjoyed all things Irish, family, faith, music, reading, old movies and plants.

Mary was a nurturer at the greatest level, whether it was children or plants or anything. She loved life and always stayed positive. Even when it was dark, Mary always found the light. Never ever giving up on anyone or anything, she was one of the rarest people in the world; today, we can only hope we can do the same.

The daughter of the late Thomas Theodore and Annie (nee Sullivan) O’Rourke, Mrs. Fiedler was also predeceased by her husband, Paul R. Fiedler, on January 8, 1994, and a baby daughter, Mary Ellen, in 1946. She is survived by six children, Patrick R. Fiedler and his wife, Toni, of Budd Lake, Mark D. Fiedler and his wife, Anne, of North Swanzey, N.H., Paula M. Priessnitz of Lebanon, the Rev. Kevin M. Fiedler of Byram Township, Mary S. “Susie” Thompson and her husband, Reid, of Concord, N.C., and Lawrence J. Fiedler of Budd Lake. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment will follow in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. A prayer service will be held during the evening visitation hours.

Memorial donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
