NEWTON - Patricia E. Valentine, 66, of Fredon Township, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Newton Medical Center.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Valentine lived in West Orange from 1972 until moving to Fredon Township in 1987. She was secretary to the president of Manufacturers Hanover Corporation on Wall Street in New York City, leaving in 1979 to raise her family. A member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood, Mrs. Valentine was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a former member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, where she sang in the choir.

The daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Scanlon) McArdle, Mrs. Valentine is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joseph J. Valentine; two daughters, Dr. Jennifer Valentine and her husband, Paul Maany, of Newtown Square, Pa., and Jill Ann Valentine and her partner, Nicholas Caccavo, of Forrest Hills, Queens, N.Y.; one sister, Catherine Chin and her husband, David, of Marysville, Wash.; one nephew, Daniel Chin; and one niece, Caitlin Chin.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood. Interment will follow in Stillwater Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the funeral home.
