ANDOVER TWP. - Robert H. Gibbs, 73, of Andover, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Andover Sub Acute and Rehab Center.|
Mr. Gibbs was born in Marksboro and grew up in Newton. He was a resident of Port Jervis, N.Y., prior to moving to Andover Township in 2012.
Mr. Gibbs was a maintenance and grounds keeper for Westfall Nursing Home in Matamoras, Pa., now known as Milford Care Center; he previously worked for Deer Park Road Department in Port Jervis, N.Y. In the 1960s Mr. Gibbs was a milkman in Sussex County.
The son of the late William J. and Helen (Munroe) Gibbs Sr., Mr. Gibbs also was predeceased by his partner, Eileen Comfort, in 2012; and his brother, Edgar Gibbs. He is survived by three sons, David Gibbs and wife, Chris, of Summerfield, Fla., Allen Gibbs and wife, Lisa, of Ocala, Fla., and Christopher Gibbs, of Franklin; two stepchildren, George Malizia, of Bergenfield, and Tamie Malizia, of Dumont; two sisters, Dorothy Padgett, of Soperton, Ga., and Barbara Darrohn, of Newton; two brothers, William Gibbs Jr., of Newton, and Harold Gibbs, and wife, Dot, of Alta Loma, Calif.; and half-brother, Douglas DeAlmo, of Phillipsburg.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will be prior to the service from 3 to 5 p.m.
