HARDYSTON - Rudolph J. Philback, 78, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at home in Hardyston.

Mr. Philback, son of the late Rudolph and Mary (Shipskey) Philback, was born in Forest City, Pa., Dec. 30, 1934. Mr. Philback resided in Ogdensburg for many years. He later lived in Franklin before moving to Hardyston in 1999.

Mr. Philback was a self-employed mason contractor. He served with the U.S. Army Airborne during the Korean War.

Mr. Philback was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Doney) Philback, in 1999; and a sister, Lorraine Gwin. He is survived by his children, Rudy Philback, of Keyport, Rosemarie Hocking, of Franklin, Ann Sakolsky, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., and Joseph Philback, of Hardyston; sisters, Louise Ezersky, of Wayne, Marguerite Leo, of Forest City, Pa., and Carol Bishop, of Simpson, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Franklin. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 Sparta Ave., Bldg. B, Suite 2 Sparta, NJ 07871.
