HAMPTON - Ruth Caroline Jones, 95, of Hampton Township, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton. Born in Mattituck, N.Y., Mrs. Jones lived in Jersey City, then lived in Newton for eight years before moving to Hampton Township in 2009. She was a saleswoman at Holthausen's Department Store in Union City for 15 years before her retirement. A member of St. Aedan's Church in Jersey City, as well as the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters in Jersey City, Mrs. Jones also was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. The daughter of the late Emil and Martha (Koester) Myrus, Mrs. Jones also was predeceased by her husband, Charles Granville Jones, in 1964, and her son, Charles Granville Jones II, in 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Mangino and husband, Joseph, of Little Ferry, and Pamela Porfido and husband, Michael, of Hampton Township. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home.
