NEWTON - Timothy W. Coombs, 45, of Newton, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, while working at Six Flags Amusement Park in Jackson Township. Born in Paterson, Mr. Coombs was a 1986 graduate of Newton High School and was a longtime resident of Newton. He was a general mechanic and tow truck operator for Miller Diesel in Kenvil, where he had been employed for 12 years. Mr. Coombs was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Thomas W. Coombs; and his maternal grandparents, Lemual and Mary Titus. He is survived by three children, Lauren A. Coombs, Keisha L. Cooper and Kayla A. Coombs, all of Newton; his stepdaughter, Tia Cooper, of Newton; his father, Thomas W. Coombs and wife, Sharon, of Bethlehem Township, Pa.; his mother, Mary Ann Leyrer and husband, Ralph, of Neptune City; his fiancée, Andrea Ferris, of Landing; his paternal grandmother, Mattie Coombs, of Toms River; his brother, Robert G. Coombs, of San Francisco, Calif.; his sister, Jennifer L. Coombs, of Neptune City; two nieces, Kelsey and Spencer Coombs; three uncles, George Coombs, Robert Coombs and Timothy Titus; two aunts, Linda Coombs and Joanne Brown; and one step-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
