RANDOLPH - Vincent J. Mercurio, "Major Squat," 89, of Randolph, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.

Born in Nutley, Mr. Mercurio lived in Randolph since 1958. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Mercurio was a cabinet maker for Merc Cabinets in Wharton, then Randolph, and then Newton. He was a member of St. Matthews R.C. Church in Randolph.

The son of the late Louis and Anna (Palo) Mercurio, Mr. Mercurio was predeceased by four siblings. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemarie Mercurio; two sons, Robert Mercurio, of Randolph, and Joseph Mercurio and his wife, Diane, of Stillwater; and three grandchildren, Vincent, Tabatha and Jason Mercurio. He also is survived by five siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will be private. Memorial visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
