FRANKFORD - William "Bill" A. Berliner Jr., 83, of Frankford Township, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clare's Hospital in Dover. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Berliner lived in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn and was a summer resident of Crandon Lakes. He moved to the Culver Lake section of Frankford Township in 1989. A United States Army veteran, Mr. Berliner served during the Korean Conflict. He was a district electrical operator/manager for Con Edison in New York City, where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 1985. A member of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, Mr. Berliner was head of Eucharistic Ministries as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member and chaplain of Newton Memorial Post 5360 VFW and a member and chaplain of American Legion Post 157 in Branchville, where he also was a past commander. Mr. Berliner was a member and chaplain of the Montague, Frankford, Branchville and Sandyston Senior Citizens, where he was a former Senior of the Year for each club and also was a multi-recipient of this award. The Senior of the Year at the Sussex County State Fair, Mr. Berliner served this community in many capacities as a volunteer. The son of the late William A. Berliner Sr. and Elizabeth (Dunn) Berliner, Mr. Berliner also was predeceased by his first wife, Annamarie Berliner, in 1985; one brother; and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Marion Jastrabek (Kelly) Berliner; four sons, Bill III, Edward Berliner, Michael Berliner and Joseph Kelly; five daughters, Maureen Austin, Kathleen Skolsky, Mary Ann Berliner, Margaret Ann Berliner and Karen Willis; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Branchville. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday , Nov. 17, at the funeral home.
