UNIONVILLE, N.Y. - Yvonne M. "Sis" Slockbower, 72, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y., following a long illness. Mrs. Slockbower, daughter of the late James and Marjorie (Galewater) McElroy, was born in Minisink, N.Y., Aug. 10, 1940. She was a lifelong resident of Unionville.

Mrs. Slockbower worked for American Silk Label Co. in Unionville as well as Minisink Rubber Co., also of Unionville. She was a member of the Minisink Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary in Unionville.

Mrs. Slockbower was predeceased by a son, Jim Slockbower, in 1990; and brothers, Richard, Walt and George McElroy. She is survived by her husband, John Slockbower; children, Cindy Martino and her husband, Tony, of Plymouth, N.Y., Jon Slockbower Jr. of Unionville, N.Y., Dawn Hotalen and her husband, Hank, of Sparta, Tenn., Tina Slockbower and her companion, Bob Batykefer, of Milford, Pa., Earl Slockbower and his companion, Lynnea Chasmar, of Slate Hill, N.Y., Mike Slockbower and his wife, Nancy, of Wantage, and Tammy Schleich and her husband, George, of Greenville, N.Y.; brothers, Gary and Lynk McElroy, both of Port Jervis, N.Y.; sisters, Sharon Hoff of Westtown, N.Y., Cathy Lehman of North Carolina and Carol Schroeder of Florida; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; as well as her best friends, Alison and Peter Aurrichio.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex. Interment will follow in Mt. Salem Cemetery, Wantage. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26.
