SPARTA - Salvatore M. Pietropinto, 65, died peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband for 39 years of Marie (Dule) Pietropinto. Sal was born Sept. 21, 1948, in Eboli, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. at age 9. A 24-year resident of Sparta, in a home he built himself, he was the owner of Brookwood Auto Body and Towing in Wharton since 1976. He was a businessman, inventor, woodworker and gardener. He is survived by his children, Anthony of Brooklyn, N.Y., Salvatore Jr. and wife, Julie, of Sparta, and Melissa, of Huntington Beach, Calif. He was blessed with two loving grandchildren, Sal Michael III and Adriana Elyse, whom he adored, and he looked forward to his soon-to-be-born third grandchild, Lucas Parker. He was the loving brother of Pia Calandrelli, Rhode Island, Josephine Stoppiello, Bloomfield, Assunta Bardachino, Eboli, Italy, and Frank Pietropinto, Lake Hiawatha. His funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 9 a.m., from Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kateri Tekakwitha R.C. Church, 427 Stanhope Road, Sparta, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, for friends and family.
