STILLWATER - Claire Nicomini, 100, of the Swartswood section of Stillwater Township, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at home. Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Nicomini lived in Union City and also lived in the Swartswood section of Stillwater Township before permanently moving to Stillwater Township. She was a member, as well as one of the founding members, of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. She also was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seniors Group. The daughter of the late Carlo and Adele (Cassinelli) Sonvico, Mrs. Nicomini was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Nicomini, in 1985; and a son, David Nicomini, in 1962. Mrs. Nicomini also was predeceased by one sister and four brothers. She is survived by a son, Richard Nicomini, of Weehawken and of the Swartswood Lake section of Stillwater Township; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood. Interment will follow in Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.
