NEWTON -- Martha (Waro) Pollison, 79, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Valley View Care Center in Newton. Martha was born in New York City, N.Y., to Stephan and Mary (Korhonen) Waro. She had previously worked for several years as an educator at Sussex Vocational and Technical School in Sparta, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Pollison had been a very active person throughout her life. She dedicated time volunteering for many groups, especially The Teen Challenge associated with David Wilkerson, assisting disadvantaged youth. Martha enjoyed painting in her spare time, and when healthy participated in many 5K events in the area. Martha was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenyon L. Pollison, in 2013. She is survived by two sons, Kevin Pollison and his wife, Allison, and Keir Pollison and wife, Fabiola, both of Sparta; and four grandchildren, Kandace, Korinne, Kenneth and Keith Pollison. Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday, May 19, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A funeral home service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by interment in North Hardyston Cemetery, Hamburg, where Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kenyon.
