FRANKFORD - Daniel Celentano Sr., 84, of Frankford Township, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Born in Jersey City, Mr. Celentano lived in Jersey City, Elmwood Park and Stillwater before moving to Frankford Township in 2007. He worked as a construction superintendent in Bergen, Essex and Hudson counties, as well as other various employers, retiring at the age of 65 after 30 years. A United States Army veteran, Mr. Celentano served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Celentano loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren at their events. "Thank you to Tommy and Lesley for the strength you bring to my heart through the strength of your family" and his parting words to his son, "I wish I could do it all over again." Also, special thanks to the Ladies of Grace at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. The son of the late Anthony and Carmella (Lipani) Celentano, Mr. Celentano was predeceased by one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Anita, to whom he was married for 55 years; three daughters, Lori DelMauro and husband, Harold, of Mt. Bethel, Pa., Donna Vix and husband, Richard, of Camden, Maine, and Anita Crocitto and husband, Paul, of Vernon; two sons, Danny Celentano and wife, Wendy, of Frankford Township, and Nico Celentano, of Morristown; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Tommy Duca, of Fair Lawn. A Memorial Mass will be held at noon Saturday, June 21, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
