BLAIRSTOWN -- Elmer Johnson, 89, of Blairstown, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, in the Barn Hill Care Center in Newton. Born in Newark to the late Valentine and Margaret Gillium Johnson, he has resided in Blairstown for several years, moving form the Morris County area. He was a retired bread delivery driver for the Pepperidge Farm Co. in Fairfield. Elmer was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of both Blairstown and Frelinghuysen, and was also a former member and longtime treasurer of the ParTroy Bowling League. He is survived by his wife, Janice Heath Johnson; a son, Gary, of Ship Bottom; a daughter, Lisa Quilty and her husband, Tim, of Succasunna; a grandson, Brian; a brother, Robert Johnson, of Belleville; and a sister, Viola Francis, of Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy in 2011. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 4 p.m. at the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown. There will be a period of visitation Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. Donations in memory of Elmer may be made to the ARC of Warren County, P.O. Box 389, Washington, NJ 07882.
