Obituary Condolences

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. -- Eugene Michael Stramiello passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at North West Medical Center in Margate, Fla. He was 87 years old.

Eugene is survived by his four children, Lizbeth, Laura, Joseph, and Lois; son-in-law Gus; daughters-in-law Judy and Linda; as well as his four grandchildren, Paul, Stephen, Michelle and Tracy. He loved spending time with his family very dearly.

Eugene was born on April 14, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he also met and married his wife, Josephine, and raised their children. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving the Pacific Campaign on the island of Guam during World War II when he was just 18 years old. After Eugene returned from his service, he was employed with the New York City Transit Authority, now the MTA, as a bus driver in Brooklyn for 25 years. The family then moved to Clifton in 1978. Before moving to Florida, Eugene lived in Sparta for five years.

Eugene was a great, witty man loved by all. He enjoyed many summers relaxing at his lake home with his family, as well as playing cards with his grandchildren and fine Italian food.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta on Thursday, July 31, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Kateri Parish, Sparta, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Affairs of New Jersey.
