SUSSEX BOROUGH - Irene J. Stormes, age 87, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Belle Reve Senior Living Center in Milford, Pa., while surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Vernon to the late Stanley and Mildred Sanders on Feb. 14, 1925, Mrs. Stormes had lived in Sussex County all of her life. She had co-owned Bob and Bill's Service Station in Sussex for many years and had continued to be a part of the business until she retired 10 years ago. Mrs. Stormes was a very active lifetime member of the Sussex Fire Department First Aid Squad.

She was predeceased by her husband, William G. Stormes, in 1970; her son, George Stormes; her daughter, Shirley Terrell; her grandson, Bill Stormes; her brother, Stanley ""Jim"" Sanders; and her sisters, Marjorie Haas and Ruth Cherry. Mrs. Stormes is survived by her son, Robert ""Bob"" Stormes Sr. and his wife, Gloria, of Sussex; her daughters, Trudy Williams and her husband, David, of Augusta, and Patricia Shotwell of Florida; her brother, Roger ""Sandy"" Sanders and his wife, Diane, of Margaretville, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Kirt Williams and his wife, Kathy, and their daughter, Kelly, Jennifer (Williams) Van Putten Vink and her husband, Bill, and their children, William and Michael, Bob Stormes Jr. and his wife, Sandy, and children, Melissa, Aliso and Aimee, Ron Stormes and his wife, Raine, and their children, Brooke and Melanie, Al Stormes and his wife, Sheila, and their children, Randy and Rachel, Sherry Stormes and her children, Danielle and Tanner; the son of the late Bill Stormes, Bill; the children of the late Shirley Terrell, Debbie, Brenda, Bill, Jake, and Patty; Patricia Shotwell's children, Mark and Cheryl; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews; as well as her significant other of 35 years, Alex Bodnar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sussex Fire Department and First Aid Squad, 25 Loomis Ave., Sussex, NJ 07416; or to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 15 Linden St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
