VERNON - Kerry V. Michaels, 54, originally of Vernon, lost his battle to lung cancer on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012. Kerry was born to the late Joseph and Miriam Vreeland Michaels. He leaves Linda, his wife and best friend of 20 years. Survivors include his children: Patrick, Kelly McNally (Dan), Hilary and Matthew; and his five siblings, Melinda Stewart, Kevin, Pat Harris, Kristian and Jan. He also leaves many nieces and nephews; his friends of Bill W.; and his boxer, Joe. Born with the gift of blarney, befitting his Irish name, Kerry never met a stranger. He was a professional truck driver who enjoyed cheering on the New York Jets, attending high school and college wrestling, fishing while watching for eagles, relaxing on any sunny beach and baking ziti. Any room he entered came alive with his stories and humor. Each life he touched was changed forever and none will forget him. He donated his body to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Anatomical Association in Piscataway. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 11 a.m., at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Road and Morris Ave., Union, with a celebration of his life to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to create a fund for the benefit of his daughter, Hilary Michaels.
