HARDYSTON - Patricia T. Scussel (Thompson), 79, died unexpectedly at Newton Medical Center on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Born to John C. and Catherine Thompson in Paterson, she was raised in Clifton and then lived in Garfield for 32 years before moving to the Stockholm section of Hardyston seven years ago.

Ms. Scussel worked as a sales representative for N.J. Bell in Fair Lawn, and then as a secretary for Coastal Oil Co., in Newark, and then as a secretary for the Bergen County Office of Highway Safety in Paramus for 13 years before retiring in 2002. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows R.C. Church, Garfield, and a parishioner of St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Stockholm.

She was a professional clown and went by the name "Cricket The Clown," marching in the Funny Factory Clown Band in Seaside Heights and entertaining Senior Citizen Clubs. She was a member of the Franklin and Hardyston Senior Citizens, serving as vice president of the Hardyston Senior Citizens. She took great joy in bowling in her spare time.

Ms. Scussel was predeceased by her former husband, Robert R. Scussel Jr.(2009). She was the devoted mother of Robin Scussel, of Orlando, Fla., Robert R. Scussel III and his wife, Linda, of Stockholm, Colleen "Pina" Scussel, of Clifton, Allison Scussel and her fiance, Nick Volosin, of High Bridge, and Teddy Jon Chomko, of West Allenhurst; dear sister of Joan Crane, of Clifton; best friend of Joan Hagemann, of Pompton Plains; and cherished grandmother of Joelle, Autumn, Giovanni, Robert R., IV, Brenden and Ryan.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin, on Friday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception R.C.
