FRANKFORD - Ruth Ann Duffy Williams, 66, of Singer Island, Fla., and Frankford, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Newton Medical Center. Ruth Ann was a Master Gardener. She was a lifelong learner and teacher who took pleasure in everything and everybody. Ruth Ann loved children and her career was devoted to them. Her greatest joy always was to be surrounded by family and friends. The daughter of the late Timothy and Ruth Rich Duffy, Ruth Ann also was predeceased by her brother, Timothy D. Duffy, in 1979. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald; one sister, Janet Duffy Hamm (William), of Jamesville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Ruth Ann moved to Frankford when she was 7 years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from William Paterson College. She taught in the Branchville and Frankford Township Elementary Schools from 1967 to 1987. Ruth Ann retired as a principal at Frankford Elementary School in 2000. She was appointed to the New Jersey State Board of Examiners for the New Jersey Department of Education Office of Teacher Certification and Academic Credentials. She was a member of the Sussex County Community College Foundation Board and Delta Kappa Gamma. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at First United Methodist Church of Newton, 111 Ryerson Ave., Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sussex County Community College, Ruth Ann and Donald Williams Endowed Scholarship, One College Hill Road, Newton, NJ 07860; or Project Self-Sufficiency, 127 Mill St., Newton, NJ 07860.
