VERNON - Roger D. Storms, 86, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving and caring family.

Born in Sussex, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ruth (Carr) Storms. Mr. Storms had been lifelong resident of Vernon.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings: Alberta, Theodore, Stanley, Zita and Lee. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Robinson), of Vernon. He also is survived by a sister, Celia Sisco, of Warwick, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was a longtime member of the Vernon Fire Department and held many positions within the fire department over his many years of service. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a former member of the Sparta Elks. He also enjoyed the times he would spend hunting.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon. Interment to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
