STILLWATER - Theresa Armstrong, 86, of Stillwater, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. Born in Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Armstrong lived in The Bronx for 30 years and moved to Sussex County in 1960. She was a banker at Valley National Bank in Fredon before her retirement. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Her community involvement included being a volunteer at Newton Medical Center with more than 8,000 hours, a volunteer at St. Joseph Thrift Shop for 20 years, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Church and Newton Medical Center, and a member of the Frankford Seniors. She also was involved in TOPS at Newton Medical Center and Healthy Bones in Newton. The daughter of the late William and Anna (Hoffman) Dittmar, Mrs. Armstrong also was predeceased by her husband, William Joseph Armstrong, in 1993, and a granddaughter, Tanya Goss, in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Goss, and husband, Kenneth; her son, William Armstrong, and wife, Deborah; her daughter, Suzanne Gancarcik, and husband, William; 11 grandchildren; and many loving great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 4 to 7 p.m., at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
