SPARTA â€" Gloria L. Philhower (Zimmerman), of Sparta, went home to the Lord, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. She was 86. Gloria was born in Boonton to Albert and Adna (Porter) Zimmerman. She has resided in Sparta for over 30 years, previously of Denville. Gloria was a homemaker, and previously worked as a secretary for Capaxco of Denville. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, and a former member of the Denville Veterans of Foreign War POST 2519 Ladies Auxiliary, and American Legion POST 0390 Gold Star Mother, as a mother whom has lost a child in a war. Gloria was a member of the Dawn Center for Independent Living and the NJ Foundation for the Blind, both in Denville. Predeceasing her is her husband, Charles William Philhower, in 1996; and her son, CW Philhower, Jr., in 1965. Surviving Gloria are two son, Timothy, of Red Feather, Colo., and Keith, of Flanders; a daughter, Susan Gandenberger, and her husband, William, of San Marcos, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Bethany Philhower, and Stephen, Peter, Mark and Emily Gandenberger; and six great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited Wednesday, 10 a.m., to First Presbyterian Church of Sparta for a Memorial Service. Arrangements are being handled by Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871.
