WANTAGE - William A. Cloke, Sr., 84, of Wantage, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. Born in Sussex, he was the son of the late John "Jack" and Melcena (Benson) Cloke. Bill was a lifetime resident of Sussex County.
During his early years, Mr. Cloke was a self-employed dairy farmer. In 1965, he became the owner and operator of Cloke Excavating, retiring in 2002. In his spare time, he enjoyed the sport of trap shooting. He was a member of the Fox Ridge Trap League, Tri State Rod and Gun Club and the Pocono Slate Belt Shooting Association. In addition, he was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, was the past president of the High Point Little League, the manager for the Sussex Wallkill Baseball team, and was a lifetime member of the Sussex Elks Club.
He is survived by his children, Melicent D'Amore, and her husband, John, of Centre Hall, Pa., William A. Cloke, Jr., and his fiance, Cathy, of Sussex, and Jacqueline A. Cloke, and her companion, Frederick Dunn, of Sussex. He was the loving grandfather of Leigh Ann Gagnon, and her husband, Jarod, Lori Ann Kunz, and her husband, Vincent, Linda Quist, and her fiance, Joel Wilson, and Melanie Ray, and her husband, John; and great-grandfather of Jonathan Ray, Jr., Sophie Elizabeth Ray, Vincent Nicholas Kunz and Kailyn Boyette.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex. Private family graveside services will be held on Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Sussex.
