WANTAGE - Madeline Zajac, 82, of Wantage, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Franklin on May 19, 1930, Mrs. Zajac grew up in Sussex County and had lived in Clearwater, Fla., for 40 years until she moved back to Sussex County three years ago. While living in New Jersey, Mrs. Zajac had been a bartender at the Sussex Inn, and while living in Florida, she had worked as a self-employed home health aide, retiring a few years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mabel and John Hardick; her three brothers, George Philhower, Dal Finnegan and Kal Finigan; her granddaughter, Kristie Zajac; and her former husband, Nicholas Zajac. Mrs. Zajac is survived by her five sons, Bob and Joanne of Wantage, Mike and Dottie of Wantage, Ralph and Cindy of Wantage, Randy of Andover, and Les and Tammy of Hamburg; her daughter, Terry Martin and Jim of Arkansas; her two sisters, Freda Sacawa of Sparta and Marjorie Frint of Sparta; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may pay their respects to the family Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. Memorial service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 S.
